Cooperstown Boys Varsity Basketball Advances to Class C Final Four After Quarterfinal Victory Over Elmira Notre Dame

SYRACUSE – Congratulations to the Cooperstown boys varsity basketball team, who defeated Elmira Notre Dame by a score of 60-57 in the quarterfinals of the Class C New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Championship Tournament on Sunday at Onondaga Community College’s SRC Arena in Syracuse.

After trailing for much of the first half, the Hawkeyes finally took their first lead of the game about midway through the third quarter.

Miles Nelen scored a game-high 24 points for the Hawkeyes, including a layup with 4.8 seconds remaining that sealed the victory for Cooperstown. Jackson Crisman racked up 18 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Brody Murdock scored 13 points, and Cooper Coleman had two points and seven rebounds. Ben Lewis had five rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

Cooperstown will now compete in the Class C semifinals on Saturday, March 21, at 1:30 p.m. at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton.

The Hawkeyes will go up against Section V Class C winner Lyons, who defeated Section VI champion Global Concepts, 76-46, in the Western Regional game at Buffalo State on Saturday.
