Cooperstown Students Engage with Holocaust Scholar Eileen Angelini During Special Presentation
Thank you to Holocaust educator and scholar Dr. Eileen M. Angelini for spending Wednesday with Cooperstown Junior/Senior High School students for a powerful and thought-provoking presentation on Holocaust history, memory, and the importance of confronting intolerance. Dr. Angelini is the Upstate Regional Coordinator for 3GNY, a nonprofit organization founded by the grandchildren of Holocaust survivors.
Throughout the day, Dr. Angelini met with students in grade-level sessions, sharing her expertise on the German occupation of France during World War II and discussing themes explored in her documentary called “France Divided.” Her presentation drew on the testimonies of Holocaust survivors, members of the French Resistance, hidden children, Righteous Gentiles, and historians to help students better understand this important period in history.
Students were highly engaged throughout the sessions, asking thoughtful questions and participating in meaningful discussion about the lasting impact of the Holocaust and why preserving these stories remains essential for future generations.
We appreciate Dr. Angelini’s time, insight, and commitment to Holocaust education, and thank you to Mrs. Pindar for coordinating this important learning opportunity for our junior/senior high school students.
Community members who would like to attend Dr. Angelini’s session are invited to join us Wednesday evening from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the library at Cooperstown Jr/Sr High School.
