COOPERSTOWN – Cooperstown senior Miles Nelen was named New York State Class-C Player of the Year in the postseason boys basketball awards, the New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSWA) announced Wednesday.

Nelen, who helped lead the Hawkeyes to a state title and a perfect 27-0 record in 2025-26, averaged 26.3 points per game and was also named player of the year by Oneonta newspaper The Daily Star.

Additionally, senior Christian Lawson made fourth team all-state in Class-C, while junior Brody Murdock was named as honorable mention all-state.

Earlier this month, The Daily Star named Cooperstown Coach John Lambert as its Coach of the Year after he led the Hawkeyes to their first state basketball title since the 2018-19 season, the same year he took over as head coach and led Cooperstown to a state championship.
